And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akkan Kubilay!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kubilay gets the takedown into side control.
Kubilay tries to advance to mount but Valerdi denies him.
Kubilay trying to control the position but Valerdi is working away.
Valerdi is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kubilay is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Kubilay looking to secure an arm triangle but Valerdi defends it well.
Valerdi has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Kubilay is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Valerdi has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Kubilay has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Valerdi taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Kubilay doesn't care though - he's delighted!
