Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Deniis Reynolds (ranked 5151 p4p, 547 weight class) and Nathan Shield (ranked 8452 p4p, 712 weight class). Nathan Shield told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shield wants to clinch up but Reynolds keeps it at a distance.
Reynolds changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nathan Shield seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've been hearing good reports from Reynolds's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Shield is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Reynolds might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Reynolds lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Shield quite badly. Shield pulls Reynolds in close trying to recover. Reynolds postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Shield on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Shield doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

In his post fight interview, Deniis Reynolds started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Nathan Shield was interviewed post fight and said 'I fought this fight sitting there about thirty percent everybody knows what im capable of '.
