PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armando Guthrie (ranked 8779 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Chambers (ranked 5998 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Chambers's choice of entrance music: Fallout Boy - Centuries. Armando Guthrie has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Chambers!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chambers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Guthrie shoots in looking for a takedown. Chambers tries to sprawl out of it but Guthrie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chambers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Guthrie is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Chambers.


It looks like Armando Guthrie has been cut.
Guthrie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chambers sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Chambers darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Chambers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Chambers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Guthrie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Chambers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chambers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chambers takes a little break here. Guthrie wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Chambers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Guthrie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Chambers decides to stand up, so the ref orders Guthrie to his feet.
Guthrie seems to have got his legs back now.

Chambers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Guthrie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Chambers is in Guthrie's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chambers is pushing down on Guthrie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Guthrie is fighting to maintain full guard but Chambers has managed to sneak the leg through.

Chambers escapes and gets back to his feet.

Chambers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Guthrie's guard.
Chambers throws an elbow that misses. Guthrie uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chambers's guard. Nice move by Guthrie!

Chambers wants to stand up but Guthrie is controlling him.
Guthrie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chambers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Guthrie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Chambers is in Guthrie's guard.

Guthrie has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Chambers is on him like a limpet, forcing Guthrie back against the cage.
Guthrie is trying to pull guard but Chambers turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Armando Guthrie.
Well Chambers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
