Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Wells (ranked 6699 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Aliev (ranked 25505 p4p, 0 weight class). Albert Aliev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trevor Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Albert Aliev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aliev tries for a takedown but Wells circles away easily

and Wells moves into the clinch.

Wells pulls guard effortlessly.
Wells manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aliev manages to get himself to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wells accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wells throws a big right hand that misses.
Aliev has momentary wrist control but Wells slips an elbow through the middle.
Wells controls from within his opponent's guard.
Wells landing some decent shots from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aliev is trying to control the position but Wells postures up.

Wells drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wells jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wells is looking to work some ground and pound but Aliev has wrist control.

Wells postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aliev working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wells.
Aliev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wells slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Wells cracks Aliev with a solid left hand.
Wells has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wells controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Aliev has momentary wrist control but Wells slips an elbow through the middle.
Wells seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wells chips away with some ground and pound.
Wells stays in close to Aliev's body and controls the position.
Wells stands up over Aliev, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Wells with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wells's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Wells is in close to Aliev's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Aliev looks winded!

Aliev can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wells controls the pace.
Wells landing some decent shots from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wells's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Wells postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wells chips away with some ground and pound.

Aliev is working an open guard so Wells takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Aliev instigates a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wells wants the takedown. Aliev is fighting it off but Wells persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Aliev's guard against the cage.
Wells keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Aliev's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wells working some strikes from top position.
Wells distracts Aliev with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trevor Wells dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Wells throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wells throws a leg kick but Aliev moved away.
Nice sprawl there from Wells as Aliev shoots in.

Wells has clasped his hands together around Aliev's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Aliev tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aliev tries to hold on but Wells postures up.

Wells lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wells lands a nice shot to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Aliev is breathing heavily.

Wells sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Wells fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Wells pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Wells is landing with some decent strikes but Aliev is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Wells cracks Aliev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Aliev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wells. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wells has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Aliev is forced to tap!
