PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andreas Shepherd (ranked 6030 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yash Pathak (ranked 25517 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Andreas Shepherd has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Andreas Shepherd seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shepherd shoots in and bounces Pathak off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pathak looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Shepherd gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pathak throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Shepherd counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pathak!
Shepherd cracks Pathak with a big elbow.
Shepherd lands a few punches from side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pathak takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pathak on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Shepherd lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pathak down.
Pathak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shepherd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shepherd looks up at the clock and then as Pathak takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shepherd smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Pathak tries to control but Shepherd manages to take his back.
Shepherd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Can Pathak hold on?! Shepherd is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Shepherd is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Pathak has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Shepherd has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Pathak taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Shepherd doesn't care though - he's delighted!
