PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Wilson (ranked 4212 p4p, 423 weight class) and Vladimir Tarlac (ranked 3107 p4p, 328 weight class). Wilson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Simple Math - By: DL Incognito. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Solomon Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir Tarlac!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Tarlac's head.

Wilson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tarlac tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wilson is in Tarlac's guard.
Wilson is working Tarlac over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wilson has his foot on Tarlac's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tarlac works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Tarlac wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Wilson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Wilson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Tarlac manages to circle out of the way.

Wilson winds up and cracks Tarlac with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Wilson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wilson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Wilson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tarlac with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Tarlac regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Wilson.
Solomon Wilson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wilson is fighting to break Tarlac's control of his arms but Tarlac is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

My spies in House of Gladiators inform me that Tarlac has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Solomon Wilson.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wilson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
