Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thanh Parrish (ranked 24733 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Santos (ranked 6314 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jorge Santos enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thanh Parrish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Santos!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos moves into the clinch.
Santos is trying to stall.

Santos ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Santos no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Parrish drops back looking for a leg! Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santos manages to kick Parrish off! Parrish jumps back into Santos's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos wants to improve his position but instead Parrish has moved into half guard.

Santos wants to get back to his feet.

Parrish has control of Santos's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Santos regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Parrish really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Santos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Santos tries to improve his position but instead Parrish has taken his back!
Parrish is hanging on to Santos's back as he tries to escape.
Parrish will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
I would not like to be Santos right now.
Parrish is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Santos up.

Santos trying to control the hands but Parrish won't let him.
Santos is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Santos just trying to survive but Parrish is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You can see the frustration on Santos's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Santos closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Parrish's guard.

Parrish has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Santos has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Santos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Parrish can't fight it off and eventually Santos manages to take the fight to the floor. Parrish looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Santos has picked Parrish up - he's going for a ride! Santos dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Parrish is controlling Santos's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parrish is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santos can do to turn this around?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thanh Parrish overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Santos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Still in half guard, Santos seems content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jorge Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Santos closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Parrish's guard.

Parrish pulls Santos in close to prevent any damage.

Parrish is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Santos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parrish works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Santos wants to control from the top but Parrish keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Santos fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Parrish checks it well.
Parrish darts in looking for a takedown but Santos gets double underhooks and turns Parrish into the cage.

Parrish shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Santos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Santos throws his legs up looking for a submission but Parrish uses it to pass to side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Thanh Parrish will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


A lazy body kick from Santos

Parrish fails to pull guard.

Parrish has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santos uses from the top position.
Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parrish swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parrish is trying to keep Santos in close.
Parrish utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parrish is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Santos tries to free his leg and advance position but Parrish is retaining full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Santos fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Parrish to the ground. Santos is now in Parrish's guard.

Parrish has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Santos is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Parrish goes for a takedown in the clinch but Santos prevents it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Parrish successfully pulls guard.

Santos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Parrish, up you get!

Santos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Parrish did well to prevent Santos getting side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Parrish is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Santos scores with a couple of nice shots.

Santos content to control rather than advance.
Santos moves into full mount! Parrish won't be happy about that!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Santos misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
