Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Elton Mcpherson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Starman!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Starman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mcpherson's guard.
Starman lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Starman working some strikes from top position.

Mcpherson is looking for a triangle but Starman pushes his legs off easily.
Starman's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mcpherson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Starman manages to get himself to full guard.

Starman is pulling down on Mcpherson's head to control his posture.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Starman can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Starman throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Starman has Mcpherson pulled in close to control his posture.
Starman wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Starman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcpherson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcpherson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Starman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcpherson's guard.


Mcpherson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Starman is aware though and is defending well.
Starman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mcpherson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Starman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Starman working some strikes from top position.
Mcpherson looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcpherson, not yet.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Starman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Starman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Starman has hold of Mcpherson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Mcpherson seems comfortable defending it but Starman has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Mcpherson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Mcpherson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Starman couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Starman!
An out of breath John Starman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
