PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryer McGuire (ranked 58 p4p, 10 weight class) and Mikael Brophy (ranked 327 p4p, 51 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McGuire might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Nothing More - Go To War. Brophy has chosen Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGuire lands a leg kick that knocks Brophy off balance momentarily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brophy.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McGuire on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
McGuire lands with an overhand left.

McGuire turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A lazy body kick from Brophy
and McGuire counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brophy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McGuire has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McGuire and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
McGuire is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Brophy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Good leg kick by Brophy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Brophy lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

McGuire fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Brophy.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGuire checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Brophy tries to work over McGuire's front leg with a kick but McGuire checks it.
McGuire is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That was a close round but I would say that Bryer McGuire will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Brophy moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Brophy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGuire was well out of range. Poor timing from Brophy.
McGuire feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Brophys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That has opened up Mikael Brophy's cut even more.

Brophy replies with a solid counter kick to the body but McGuire blocks it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and McGuire counters with a good low kick that Brophy was not able to check.
Brophy misses with an attempted mid kick.

McGuire needs to keep his hands up - Brophy had a free shot at his head there.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Brophy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McGuire - the referee stops the clock and Brophy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McGuire. Brophy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Both fighters circling a little - Brophy finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Brophy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Brophy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

McGuire throws a looping overhand right but Brophy ducks down to avoid it.
McGuire throws a low kick but it's checked well by Brophy.

McGuire is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGuire feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Brophy sprawling to the canvas! Brophy rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can McGuire finish him?!

Brophy is rocked!

The cut above Mikael Brophy's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

and McGuire counters with a big left hand that crumples Brophy! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

Bryer McGuire really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Red Light Coffeeshop logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
