PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miles Bridges (ranked 7784 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chief Eyes (ranked 5238 p4p, 494 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chief Eyes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miles Bridges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Eyes!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eyes closes the distance and clinches.
Bridges blocks an uppercut.
Eyes gets underhooks to prevent Bridges's takedown attempt.
Eyes misses with a short punch on the inside.
Eyes lands a right hand.
Eyes swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Eyes doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
We've been hearing reports that Bridges has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Bridges stalling.
A head punch on the inside from Eyes fails to land.
A nice left hand lands by Eyes.
Eyes throws a head punch that misses.
Eyes struggles to land a body shot inside as Bridges controls his hands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eyes lands with a short shot to the head.
Eyes lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bridges backwards.
Eyes misses with the head strike.
Eyes swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bridges blocks an uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bridges works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Bridges is standing up over Eyes. Eyes looks to escape but Bridges dives into side control.

Bridges has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Bridges thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bridges tries to control but Eyes wriggling away.
Eyes is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Bridges working for a guillotine from mount but Eyes is in no mood to give up.
Eyes has given up his back.
Eyes is trying to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bridges throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Bridges looking for the RNC.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Bridges looking to break Eyes's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Eyes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Bridges will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Bridges is looking to control Eyes but Eyes is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Eyes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bridges gets his way!

Bridges working for a choke but Eyes is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Eyes is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Bridges.
Eyes staying busy and making it hard for Bridges to control.

Bridges has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Eyes! Can he survive? No! He's out! Bridges gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Miles Bridges!
After winning the bout, Miles Bridges thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
