Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jan Pope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Bozzi!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bozzi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bozzi ducks under a wild hook from Pope.
Pope throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pope throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bozzi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pope.
Bozzi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pope.
Pope lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bozzi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bozzi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pope connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bozzi scrambles back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bozzi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pope looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

You can see the frustration on Pope's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like Bozzi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pope tries to bench press Bozzi off him but Bozzi keeps the position.
Bozzi lands a decent elbow from side control.
Bozzi controls the position.
Bozzi trying to control the action but Pope is working from the bottom.
Bozzi content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Pope tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bozzi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pope is working hard here to advance position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pope is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bozzi off and has taken his back!
Bozzi is trying to get back to his feet but Pope has full control of the position and if anything, Bozzi has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Bozzi staying busy and making it hard for Pope to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pope thows a strike but Bozzi uses the opportunity to reverse the position! Great move by Bozzi as he ends up in Pope 's guard!
Pope tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bozzi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pope is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bozzi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jan Pope dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bozzi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pope tries to avoid it but Bozzi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pope to the ground. Pope escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pope throws out a loose jab but Bozzi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pope stuffs the takedown.

Bozzi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Bozzi prevents Pope from improving his position.

Pope wants to control but Bozzi is keeping busy.
Bozzi is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bozzi lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Bozzi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pope gets back to full guard.
Pope controls Bozzi momentarily but Bozzi frees himself.
Bozzi's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pope tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pope throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bozzi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pope stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pope wants it to stay on the feet.
Jan Pope has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Bozzi.
Pope connects with a solid leg kick.
Pope displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bozzi.
A quick step to the side and Pope tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Pope leaves Bozzi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jan Pope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pope scores with the left hand. Bozzi knows he should have avoided that one.
Pope jabs Bozzi to the body, keeping him at a distance.

And Bozzi tries to counter it with a takedown but Pope pushes his down on his head and steps out.

It looked like Pope was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Pope fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bozzi manages to avoid it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pope looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Pope shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bozzi eats them both and turns towards Pope to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bozzi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bozzi moves away from the strike by Pope.
Bozzi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pope.
Pope throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Bozzi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pope napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pope is looking to get back to his feet here but Bozzi is keeping cool and he's managed to take Pope's back.

What can Pope do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Bozzi trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

I really don't envy Pope right now.
