The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thatcher closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thatcher lands in his opponent's guard.
Thatcher controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thatcher slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Thatcher is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Grant is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Thatcher tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Grant is working to avoid the ground and pound but Thatcher connects with a decent elbow.
Thatcher is looking to take a break and control but Grant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Thatcher lands a few punches from side control.
Thatcher cracks Grant with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grant is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Thatcher's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Thatcher! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Grant has tapped! This one is allllll over!
