PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Wuzz (ranked 821 p4p, 123 weight class) and James Kingsley (ranked 1451 p4p, 204 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kingsley's choice of entrance music: Alpenglow (instrumental) - Nightwish. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Wuzz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Kingsley!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingsley with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kingsley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kingsley gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wuzz.
Wuzz throws a lazy right hand but Kingsley sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kingsley is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Wuzz takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kingsley.
Wuzz is trying to control Kingsley's posture but Kingsley avoids it.
Wuzz manages to get back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wuzz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kingsley pulls his head out easily.
Wuzz is holding on to half guard well.
Wuzz is pressing down on Kingsley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kingsley throwing strikes but missing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kingsley looking to sit in guard and control but Wuzz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wuzz wants to pass the guard but Kingsley is keeping the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wuzz has Kingsley pulled in close to control his posture.

Kingsley won't allow Wuzz to sweep him here.
Wuzz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Wuzz keeping full guard, as Kingsley tries to pass.
Kingsley throws a big right hand that misses.
Kingsley trying to control the position from guard on top but Wuzz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Wuzz tries to clinch there but Kingsley circles away.
Kingsley swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kingsley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wuzz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wuzz has a couple of punches blocked by Kingsley.
Kingsley managing to block the knees to the body from Wuzz.
Wuzz makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kingsley is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
David Wuzz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Kingsley.
Kingsley struggles to land a body shot inside as Wuzz controls his hands.
Kingsley blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kingsley gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wuzz.
Wuzz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Wuzz misses with the head strike.
Wuzz misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wuzz has a couple of punches blocked by Kingsley.
Kingsley is working for takedown but Wuzz is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kingsley wants to take the fight to the mat but Wuzz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Wuzz can't get the takedown.
Kingsley stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Wuzz will probably get the nod.
That's time! Wuzz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Wuzz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kingsley.
A little feinted left hand from Wuzz on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Wuzz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kingsley.
Wuzz throws a front kick aimed at Kingsley's knee but Kingsley avoids it well.
Wuzz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kingsley.
Donk. Kingsley catches Wuzz right on the button with a cross.
Kingsley swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kingsley is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wuzz rather than just go for the knockout.
Kingsley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kingsley misses with a body shot.
The fighters circling - Kingsley throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kingsley manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wuzz on his heels. He'll look to pass Wuzz's guard now, I'm sure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kingsley has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Wuzz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kingsley is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Wuzz pulls down on the head and he's put Kingsley to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). David Wuzz!
