The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piano goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Piano swings away with a body shot that misses
and Shorton counters with a left to the body.
Nice defenses there by Shorton.
Piano lands with a cross.

Piano circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shorton moves to clinch but Piano breaks away
enabling Piano to counter with a crisp jab.
Piano swings for the body but Shorton moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shorton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Piano paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Piano seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Piano tries to throw a body punch but Shorton avoids it by throwing Piano back against the cage.

Piano lands a body shot in the clinch.

Shorton fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Shorton has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Piano .
Shorton has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Piano lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Shorton up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Piano from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Shorton's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
