PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jaylon Anderson (ranked 4173 p4p, 497 weight class) and Sheamus Meallan (ranked 4594 p4p, 537 weight class). Anderson comes into the arena with The Monster blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaylon Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sheamus Meallan!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Topper Green and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meallan clinches up against the cage.
Anderson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Meallan's coach down at Big Jim's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Meallan's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Anderson is trying to break the clinch but Meallan is controlling him.
Anderson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Meallan walks away with a smile on his face. Anderson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Anderson shoots in for a double leg but Meallan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Meallan clinches up with Anderson and pushes him back against the cage.
Anderson tries to land knees in the clinch but Meallan avoids the damage to the body.
Anderson tries to pull guard but Meallan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Anderson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaylon Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meallan lands with a left to the head.
Meallan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Andersons head.
Meallan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Anderson is defending well for now.
Meallan lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Anderson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Meallan smiles and moves away.

Meallan closes the distance and clinches.
Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meallan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Meallan lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Anderson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Meallan pushes Anderson off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Meallan gets a clinch.
Anderson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Anderson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Meallan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

A nice right hand lands inside from Meallan.
Anderson tries for a takedown but Meallan manages to get underhooks.
Anderson jumps guard but Meallan stands there with Anderson around his waist. Anderson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Meallan scores with a nice hook to the head.


Anderson is rocked!

Anderson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meallan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Anderson goes for a takedown attempt but Meallan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Meallan forces Anderson back against the cage and clinches.
Meallan scores a nice knee to the body.

Anderson tries to pull guard but Meallan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Meallan blocks a body shot from Anderson.
Meallan lands a right hand.

Anderson is looking to break free of the clinch but Meallan has double underhooks.

Meallan drops Anderson onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Anderson is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Oh Anderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Meallan misses with the head strike.
Anderson wants to get back to striking at distance but Meallan won't allow it.
Anderson wants to break free but Meallan has control.
Anderson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Anderson tries to pull guard but Meallan won't allow it.
Anderson can't find room to land a body shot as Meallan controls the action.
Anderson seems to have got his legs back now.
A shot in the inside from Meallan.
Meallan creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Anderson with a big uppercut! Anderson tries to clinch up but Meallan pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Anderson to the mat! Anderson covers up and Meallan unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sheamus Meallan!
Jaylon Anderson was interviewed post fight and said 'Tonight, my opponent was the better fighter, and I've learned so much from him in this fight, just know this isn't the last chapter of my life.'.
