Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Blaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Blaze throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson.
Johnson throws a right hand that Blaze ducks under and follows up with a left that Blaze also avoids with ease.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johnson throws a looping overhand right but Blaze ducks down to avoid it.
Blaze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blaze slips a jab from Johnson.
Johnson lands a jab to the head.
John Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blaze misses with an attempted mid kick.
Johnson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Blaze dips to his left and cracks Johnson with an uppercut!
Johnson connects with a nice looking jab.
Johnson throws a shot from downtown. Blaze moves away and avoids it.

Blaze throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Johnson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A jab from Johnson finds it's way through Blaze's defenses.
Blaze pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Johnson back to the cage. Blaze follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Johnson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blaze to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd cheers as Johnson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Blaze doesn't seem phased though.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but Blaze is out of range.
Blaze tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Johnson! But no joy.
John Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blaze moves away from the strike by Johnson.
Blaze has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blaze circles away quickly and effectively.

Blaze gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.
Johnson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Johnson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Johnson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Blaze shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Johnson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Blaze throws a big right hand that misses.
Johnson is adopting a defensive guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Blaze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blaze throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Blaze with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Blaze has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blaze wants to get back to full guard.
Johnson is thwarting Blaze's attempts to control the position.
Blaze moves into full guard.

Blaze looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Blaze manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.


Johnson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Blaze is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Johnson looks to land a right hand but Blaze moved out of range.
The crowd cheers as Johnson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Blaze doesn't seem phased though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson lands a jab to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Blaze shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Blaze avoids nicely.
Blaze moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blaze closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Blaze has time to react.

Johnson's corner calls for a 1-2. Johnson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Blaze shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Blaze was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Blaze is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet.

Blaze throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Blaze decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Johnson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
John Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Blaze feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Blaze changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Johnson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Blaze is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Blaze backwards.
Johnson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Blaze.

Johnson stops a takedown attempt from Blaze.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Blaze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blaze is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Johnson presses Blaze against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Johnson stops a takedown attempt from Blaze.
Johnson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Blaze tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Johnson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Johnson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

John Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Johnson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnson lunges at Blaze with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Blaze's hand.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson rushes Blaze and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Blaze is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Johnson piles on the pressure and Blaze crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Johnson!
