PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kareem Abubazi (ranked 6215 p4p, 627 weight class) and Antonio Brown (ranked 8650 p4p, 730 weight class). Abubazi comes to the cage accompanied by Israeli National Anthem . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kareem Abubazi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonio Brown!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abubazi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Abubazi moves nicely into side control.
Brown is looking to reverse the position.
Abubazi happy to just control the position for now.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abubazi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Abubazi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brown, who protects the arm well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brown is looking to get back to his feet here but Abubazi is keeping cool and he's managed to take Brown's back.
Brown manages to reverse the position and now he's in Abubazi's guard. Nice work there by Brown.
Abubazi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Abubazi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Our spies down at at Bi-Polar Asylum LV's #1 Public Training Center inform us that Brown has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Abubazi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Abubazi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Abubazi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abubazi wants it to stay on the feet.

Abubazi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brown's guard.

Abubazi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Kareem Abubazi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Abubazi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brown wants to sweep here but Abubazi controlling him for the moment.

Abubazi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Abubazi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Brown throws a series of punches but Abubazi moves out of range.

Abubazi shoots for a takedown but Brown saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Abubazi shoots in and bounces Brown off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Abubazi looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Antonio Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
