Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ayete looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Jones stands and steps away. Ayete gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
We've been told by Ayete's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Jones has eaten all the pies!
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Ayete tries to counter with a takedown but Jones is quick to defend against it.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ayete will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ayete to the ground. Jones is now in Ayete's guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Ayete keeps moving.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ayete was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jones stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones winds up and cracks Ayete with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ayete is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jones is looking to advance position but Ayete won't allow it.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.
Jones tests Ayete's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ayete swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones .

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ayete enables Jones to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ayete manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ayete wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.

Ayete keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Ayete looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jones perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ayete does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Ayete is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ayete makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ayete.
Jones works over Ayete with some ground and pound from guard.
Jones trying to control but Ayete is working from the bottom.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ayete, up you get!

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Jones replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Ayete blocks it well.
Ayete tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones feints and as Ayete raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jones gets to his feet. Ayete looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nice takedown defense from Jones . No joy for Ayete on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Majid Ayete. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crunch! Ayete slams his shin into Jones 's torso.
Jones explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Ayete is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jones dives into side control.

Jones decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ayete to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ayete on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones . Jones obviously looking to wear him down.

Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
