PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 3 p4p, 1 weight class) and Rocket Bob Frankels (ranked 51 p4p, 3 weight class). Frankels has chosen Dawn....Summer Solstice... as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocket Bob Frankels!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frankels ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Slice swings widly with a right hand
and Frankels counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slice misses with a hook. Frankels ducked under it nicely.
Slice throws a hook but Frankels blocks it.
Frankels avoids the body shot from Slice.
Slice swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Frankels lands a right hook to the body.
Slice misses with a straight right.
Frankels connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Slice's hands.
Frankels lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Frankels is looking to score with low kicks.
Slice blocks a leg kick.
Slice walks into a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frankels misses with a left hand
and Slice counters with a slapping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frankels scores with a three punch combo!
Slice throws a body punch but Frankels moves out of range.
Slice jabs Frankels to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Slice cracks Frankels with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


It looks like Rocket Bob Frankels has been cut.
Slice lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Frankels misses with a few strikes there.
Slice scores with a shot to the body.
Slice throws a lazy right hand but Frankels sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Frankels has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Slice cracks Frankels with a right hand to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A shot to the liver by Slice. Beautiful body shot.
Frankels throws a body shot but no joy.
Slice is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Slice misses with a wild body shot.

Frankels takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Slice throws a leg kick that is checked
and Frankels counters with a right hand to the body.
Frankels lands a leg kick that knocks Slice off balance momentarily.
Frankels closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Slice takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Frankels missing with a left hand there. Slice was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Frankels throws out a powerful jab.
Slice takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Slice just misses with a punch to the body.
Slice swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Slice punishes Frankels's body with a nice straight punch.
Kimbo Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Good work by Slice as he checks the leg kick.
Slice cracks the inside of Frankels's front leg.
Frankels misses with a wild body shot.
Frankels looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Slice uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Frankels has time to react.
Slice checks the leg kick.
Slice swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Frankels follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Frankels steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Slice.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Slice checks a leg kick.
Slice misses with an uppercut.
Frankels is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Slice fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Slice connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


That has opened up Rocket Bob Frankels's cut even more.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slice jabs Frankels right on the nose. Frankels blinks but takes it well.
Slice swings for the body but Frankels moves out of range.
Frankels only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Frankels defending well as Slice loads up on a big left hand.
Slice is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Slice tests Frankels's chin there with a solid looking shot.


The cut above Rocket Bob Frankels's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slice throws a body shot but no joy.
Nice uppercut lands for Slice. That snapped Frankels's head back.
Frankels tries to land a body kick
enabling Slice to counter with a crisp jab.
Frankels checks the leg kick nicely there.
Slice walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Frankels scores with a body shot.
Frankels has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Slice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Slice dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rocket Bob Frankels's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Slice moves out of range of the body kick.
A jab from Frankels does it's job there.


It looks like Kimbo Slice has been cut.
Slice throws a looping overhand right but Frankels ducks down to avoid it.
Slice looks to land a right hand but Frankels moved out of range.
Frankels looks for the body kick but Slice saw that one coming.
Slice throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Frankels counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Frankels blocks a leg kick.
Frankels looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slice throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Frankels connects with a crisp jab.
Slice takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Slice jabs at Frankels's body.

Slice tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Frankels was well out of range. Poor timing from Slice.
Frankels misses with a body shot.
Slice misses with a body shot.
Slice changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Slice throws an overhand right that lands on Frankels's shoulder, as Frankels tries to avoid the shot.
Nice defenses there by Slice.
Slice buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Frankels.
Frankels on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Frankels stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Slice.
Frankels swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slice throws a nice inside leg kick.
Frankels ducks under a wild hook from Slice.
A leg kick checked by Frankels.
Frankels steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Slice does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Frankels on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Slice. Slice obviously looking to wear him down.

Frankels misses with an uppercut. Slice saw that one coming.
Slice throws a hook but Frankels blocks it.
A telegraphed right hand from Slice misses the target.
Slice connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Frankels's hands.
Slice sizes up Frankels with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


Rocket Bob Frankels's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Kimbo Slice is winning the standup battle so far.

Frankels throws a lazy uppercut
and Slice counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slice scores with a jab to the jaw.
Slice misses with a lunging right hand
and Frankels counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Frankels throws a leg kick but Slice checks it.
Donk. Frankels catches Slice right on the button with a cross.
Frankels just misses with a punch to the body.
Frankels misses with a hook.
Slice slips under a jab.
A little feinted left hand from Slice on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Slice misses with an uppercut
and Frankels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Frankels gets cracked there but stands up to it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rocket Bob Frankels's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kimbo Slice!
Kimbo Slice retains his super heavyweight title!
Kimbo Slice decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
