PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Gotti (ranked 1020 p4p, 133 weight class) and Corey Davis (ranked 1286 p4p, 165 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Davis's choice of entrance music: Can't Be Touched. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotti misses with a hook. Davis ducked under it nicely.
Davis jabs Gotti right on the nose. Gotti blinks but takes it well.
Good leg kick by Davis there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Davis slips under a jab.
Davis missing with a left hand there. Gotti was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Davis throws the left hand but Gotti avoids the punch easily.
Gotti on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Davis wants to get back to his feet but Gotti drags him back down.

Gotti swings around for an armbar but Davis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gotti's guard.

Gotti isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Davis stacks Gotti on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Davis!

Gotti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Gotti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Gotti takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gotti is looking for a triangle but Davis pushes his legs off easily.

Gotti has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gotti crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Davis - the referee stops the clock and Gotti gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Davis. Gotti manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
