Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryo Tanaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sven Knight!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tanaka closes the distance and pushes Knight back into the cage.

Tanaka gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Tanaka wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving.
Knight seems keen to control Tanaka's posture.
Knight has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Safe Space. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Tanaka postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tanaka won't allow Knight to sweep him here.
Tanaka wants to pass the guard but Knight is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Tanaka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Knight moves away.
Knight avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Tanaka rushes Knight and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Tanaka lands a takedown into guard.
Tanaka stopping the sweep attempt from Knight.
Tanaka engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Knight seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Knight is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Knight throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Tanaka to regain full guard.

Tanaka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Knight manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tanaka trying to move into half guard but instead Knight has managed to sweep!


Tanaka is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Knight is aware though and is defending well.
Knight is working Tanaka over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Tanaka is looking to cinch up a triangle. Knight throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Tanaka's body to avoid the submission. Tanaka has instead reached around Knight's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Tanaka arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ryo Tanaka!
