PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rick Harrison (ranked 6277 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Palmer Jr (ranked 6254 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Palmer Jr!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrison tries to close the distance and clinch up but Palmer Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Harrison pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Harrison gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Harrison is looking for a triangle but Palmer Jr pushes his legs off easily.
Harrison utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Palmer Jr throws a strike but Harrison rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Harrison in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Palmer Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmer Jr has his hands on Harrison's head, controlling the position.

Harrison is fighting to break Palmer Jr's control of his arms but Palmer Jr is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Harrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palmer Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Palmer Jr wants to hit a switch here but Harrison passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Palmer Jr there!
Harrison throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Palmer Jr because Harrison loaded up on that one.

Harrison has the hooks in. Palmer Jr is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Harrison is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Harrison's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
You can see the frustration on Palmer Jr's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harrison is looking to control Palmer Jr but Palmer Jr is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Harrison is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Palmer Jr has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Palmer Jr rolls, trying to escape but Harrison keeps control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Harrison misses with a takedown attempt - Palmer Jr sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Palmer Jr tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Harrison throws a series of punches but Palmer Jr avoids them all with ease.
Harrison tries to close the distance and clinch up but Palmer Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.
George Palmer Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harrison looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Palmer Jr is fending him off so far but Harrison persists. Nope, Palmer Jr circles away and we're back to standing.
And Palmer Jr tries to counter it with a takedown but Harrison pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Palmer Jr throws a lazy right hand but Harrison sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Palmer Jr has Harrison pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Palmer Jr pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Harrison tumbling to the mat - Palmer Jr dives into Harrison's guard.
Harrison lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Harrison is pushing down on Palmer Jr's leg trying to pass to half guard. Palmer Jr is fighting to maintain full guard but Harrison has managed to sneak the leg through.
Harrison is trying to control. Palmer Jr wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Palmer Jr tries to kick Harrison off in order to stand up. Harrison Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Palmer Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.

Harrison sneaks out the side door and pushes Palmer Jr away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Rick Harrison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harrison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
