Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Pedro (ranked 163 p4p, 25 weight class) and Parker Phoenix (ranked 1395 p4p, 183 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Pedro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Parker Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pedro throws a series of punches but Phoenix moves out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Pedro has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Phoenix throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pedro seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Pedro lands a nice shot that snaps Phoenix's head back.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pedro checks a leg kick.
Phoenix shoots in looking for a takedown. Pedro tries to sprawl out of it but Phoenix keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pedro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Phoenix misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Phoenix's coach down at Area Six FC was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Phoenix's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phoenix breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Phoenix throws a head kick but Pedro moves out of range.

Pedro lands a nice leg kick that just misses Phoenix's sensitive parts.

Pedro passes into side control, despite Phoenix's attempt to control the position.
Pedro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Phoenix is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pedro asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Pedro lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Phoenix down.

Phoenix tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pedro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Phoenix looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pedro has picked Phoenix up and slammed him! Phoenix can't keep hold of the triangle and Pedro manages to pass to side control!

Phoenix is breathing heavily.
Pedro lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Pedro creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Phoenix with a big uppercut! Phoenix tries to clinch up but Pedro pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Phoenix to the mat! Phoenix covers up and Pedro unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). George Pedro!
George Pedro retains his middleweight title!
