PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neil Cole (ranked 6200 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Noble (ranked 9385 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Neil Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Noble!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Noble gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Noble gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Cole wants to improve his position but Noble is controlling well.
Noble wants to pass to mount but Cole is defending the position.

Noble is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Still in half guard, Noble seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cole is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Noble's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Noble's back!

Will Cole go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Cole really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cole looking to break Noble's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Noble remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cole will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cole is looking to control Noble but Noble is wriggling around and keeping busy.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Noble has eaten all the pies!

Noble tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Noble can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cole looking to control but Noble is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Noble tries to hold on but Cole pushes him away.

Cole is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Noble sees it coming and defends easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Neil Cole will probably get the nod.

Noble closes the distance and clinches.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cole.

Noble pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Noble throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.

Cole shoots in for a double leg but Noble sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Noble ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cole moves away.

Noble shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cole's guard.

Noble wants to get up but he can't break Cole's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Noble controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Noble has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Cole is trying to control the position but Noble postures up.

Cole wants to control but Noble is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Noble gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Cole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Noble fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cole sprawls well initially but Noble persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Noble is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Noble is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Noble is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cole to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cole shrugs it off.

Noble seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Nick Noble has got the better of the ground game so far.
Noble keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Noble tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cole controls his leg.
Cole is controlling Noble's trapped leg to prevent Noble from advancing to side control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cole appears to be looking for a big counter.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Noble sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cole's guard.

Nick Noble comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Noble has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
