The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marlow is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in West's half guard.
Marlow looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
West tries to roll over but Marlow keeps him under control.
West gets full guard.
Marlow wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Marlow working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
West wants to control the position but Marlow says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

West is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

West makes his way to full guard. A much better position for West.
Marlow won't allow West to sweep him here.
Marlow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
West is trying to keep Marlow in close.
West looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marlow is one step ahead there.

West is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marlow defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Marlow throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Marlow wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
West controls Marlow momentarily but Marlow frees himself.
Marlow is looking to stand up but West won't let him.

West is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Marlow has his hands clasped together but West extends and breaks Marlow 's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by West.

Haven West decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
