Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Watin Qary (ranked 8311 p4p, 461 weight class) and Michael Schumacher (ranked 9257 p4p, 485 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Watin Qary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Schumacher!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qary stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Qary wants it to stay on the feet.
Qary looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Schumacher tries to close the distance and clinch but Qary swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Schumacher wants to clinch up but Qary keeps it at a distance.

Qary closes the distance and pushes Schumacher back into the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Schumacher has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Qary manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Schumacher is pressing down on Qary's thigh, looking to free his foot. Qary is holding on for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Schumacher stuffs the takedown attempt from Qary. Qary gets slowly back to his feet.
Schumacher's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Schumacher duly obliges.
Schumacher tries to clinch up.
Schumacher tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Qary paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Schumacher tries for a takedown but Qary sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As Schumacher looks to move away, Qary throws a big counter combo but Schumacher just gets out of the way.

Schumacher slaps away a takedown attempt from Qary, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Schumacher. Qary shrugs it off though.
Schumacher tries to clinch up but Qary circles away and keeps his distance.
Schumacher shoots in but no luck this time.

Qary fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schumacher avoids it really well and circles away.

Qary rushes Schumacher and presses him up against the cage.
Schumacher tries to pull guard but Qary forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Qary breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Qary changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schumacher looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Qary lands with some strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Qary throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schumacher's waist but Schumacher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Qary off to one side.
Schumacher shoots in but no luck this time.
Schumacher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Qary sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Schumacher somewhat.
Schumacher misses with a head kick.
Schumacher tries to clinch but Qary is having none of it.
Qary's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Schumacher connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Qary scrambles back to his feet.

Qary gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Schumacher to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Qary avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Qary is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schumacher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Qary works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Qary is looking to stand up but Schumacher isn't so interested in that idea.
Qary controls Schumacher momentarily but Schumacher frees himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Qary wants to hit a switch here but Schumacher passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Qary there!
Qary slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Qary tries to kick Schumacher off but Schumacher keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Qary is staying active underneath Schumacher, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, if Schumacher is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Schumacher wants to stand but Qary has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Qary rushes Schumacher and presses him up against the cage.
Qary is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Schumacher is trying to push Qary away but Qary has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Schumacher is trying to drag Qary to the mat but Qary just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Qary jumps guard and drags Schumacher to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qary is on top in guard.

Qary is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Schumacher is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Qary is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Watin Qary will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Schumacher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Schumacher has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Qary is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Qary lands an elbow inside that Schumacher shrugs off.
Qary is pushing Schumacher up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Qary jumps guard and drags Schumacher to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Schumacher would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Qary looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schumacher is one step ahead there.

Qary is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Schumacher wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Qary's closed guard. He's half up but Qary has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Qary pivots and extends the arm, Schumacher falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Qary! Well done that man!
