Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Damson (ranked 6113 p4p, 568 weight class) and Beau Edge (ranked 5879 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Edge shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Damson defends it nicely.
Damson tries for a takedown but Edge circles away easily
and Edge counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Damson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Edge rushes Damson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Damson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Edge smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edge shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Damson defends it nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Damson is defended easily by Edge.

and Edge counters with a right hand to the body.

Edge clinches up with Damson and pushes him back against the cage.
Edge lands a nice shot to the body.

Edge escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Edge fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Edge cracks a nice hook into Damson's ribs.
Damson is breathing heavily.
Edge fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Edge pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Damson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Edge sprawls and moves away.

Edge breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Edge goes for a double leg but Damson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Damson continues to drive forward.
Nice sprawl there from Damson as Edge shoots in.
Damson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Edge.
Edge shoots in but no luck this time.

Edge looks to land a body kick but Damson moved away.
Edge closes the distance and clinches up with Damson, looking for a takedown. Edge pushes Damson against the cage but Damson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Damson tries to close the distance and clinch but Edge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Edge is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Damson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Edge gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Edge breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Edge fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Damson is out of range.

Edge lands a left and a right that send Damson crashing to the mat, dazed. Edge thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mike Damson has been cut.
Damson stuffs the takedown.
Edge dives in and grabs Damson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Damson pushes down on Edge's head and hops out.
Edge fails to land the takedown.

Edge closes the distance and pushes Damson back into the cage.
Edge is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Damson is pressed up against the cage. Edge has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Damson down to the mat. Damson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Damson tries to close the distance and clinch but Edge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Damson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Damson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Damson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Edge can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Damson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
