Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lu Wai Ping (ranked 2534 p4p, 273 weight class) and Hifives Ghost (ranked 2170 p4p, 235 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lu Wai Ping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hifives Ghost!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghost changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A big left from Ghost misses.
Wai Ping has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Wai Ping tests Ghost's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wai Ping lands a lovely overhand right.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ghost, right into the meat.
Ghost throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ghost circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ghost doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Ghost lands with a right hand.

Wai Ping looking to score a takedown here. Ghost is defending well but Wai Ping drives through and ends up in Ghost's guard.
Wai Ping showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Wai Ping wants to pass the guard but Ghost is keeping the position.
Wai Ping trying to control the position from guard on top but Ghost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wai Ping passes Ghost's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ghost wants to control but Wai Ping is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wai Ping is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ghost has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wai Ping prevents Ghost from improving his position.
Ghost really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wai Ping. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wai Ping is looking for a kimura but Ghost is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wai Ping to get the leverage.
Wai Ping trying to control the action but Ghost is working from the bottom.
Wai Ping wants to pass the guard but Ghost is defending well.
Ghost is trying to control but can't.
Ghost wants to get back to full guard.
Ghost keeps trying to improve his position.
Wai Ping wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ghost keeps working.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Wai Ping is pressing down on Ghost's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ghost is holding on for now.
Ghost trying to hold on to Wai Ping's head to control him but Wai Ping postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ghost throws a big shot that misses.
Wai Ping lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Wai Ping moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Wai Ping gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wai Ping working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Ghost blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Ghost prevents the takedown attempt.
Ghost tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Ghost throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Wai Ping can't find room to land a body shot as Ghost controls the action.
Wai Ping has Ghost pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ghost manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wai Ping throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ghosts head.
Ghost misses with a hook to the ribs.
Wai Ping prevents a body shot from Ghost.
Knees to the body from Wai Ping.
Wai Ping blocks an uppercut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wai Ping lands with a light punch inside.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ghost tries to work over Wai Ping's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wai Ping has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ghost avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lu Wai Ping dominated that round.

Wai Ping takes one to the chin there.
Ghost misses with a wild body shot.
Wai Ping attempts a counter takedown but Ghost avoids it well and moves away.
Wai Ping misses with a hook
and Ghost counters with a low kick, right behind Wai Ping 's knee.
Ghost throws a head kick but Wai Ping moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wai Ping.
Wai Ping looks to score with a jab to the body but Ghost is just out of range.
Ghost goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Wai Ping.
Wai Ping wants to clinch up but Ghost keeps it at a distance.
Ghost fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wai Ping looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wai Ping misses with a looping right.
Hifives Ghost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice takedown defense from Ghost. No joy for Wai Ping on that attempt.
Ghost lands a jab to the head.
Nice shot lands for Ghost.

Ghost fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wai Ping sprawls well initially but Ghost persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wai Ping is looking for a sweep. Ghost is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wai Ping is trying is best to control the position here.
Wai Ping is staying active underneath Ghost, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ghost not doing much here.
Ghost wants to pass to mount but Wai Ping is defending the position.

Wai Ping is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ghost pulls his head out easily.
Ghost seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wai Ping does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Wai Ping tries to clinch but Ghost moves out of range.
Ghost punishes Wai Ping's body with a nice straight punch.
Ghost feints and then cracks Wai Ping's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wai Ping down.
Hifives Ghost seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ghost takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wai Ping closes the distance and pushes Ghost back into the cage.
Ghost lands a nice shot to the body.
Wai Ping goes for a takedown attempt but Ghost pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lu Wai Ping. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wai Ping rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ghost moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ghost is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ghost darts in looking for a takedown but Wai Ping gets double underhooks and turns Ghost into the cage.

Wai Ping feints and as Ghost raises his hands in defense, Wai Ping changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hifives Ghost showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Ghost uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wai Ping.

Wai Ping tries to clinch up but Ghost circles away and keeps his distance.
Ghost changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ghost is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Wai Ping will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Wai Ping counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Wai Ping closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wai Ping prevents Ghost from improving his position.

Wai Ping is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ghost is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wai Ping's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wai Ping's back!
I really don't envy Wai Ping right now.
Ghost trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Wai Ping doesn't escape.

Wai Ping tries to roll but Ghost sticks to his back.
A lull in the action here.
Wai Ping tries to break free.
Ghost has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Wai Ping's body.
Wai Ping looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Ghost keeps control of the position as Wai Ping tries to break free.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wai Ping tries to roll but Ghost sticks to his back.
Ghost wants to control but Wai Ping is keeping busy.
Ghost cracks Wai Ping with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Wai Ping from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Wai Ping tries to escape but Ghost has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Wai Ping manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ghost's guard. Nice work there by Wai Ping.
Wai Ping trying to control but Ghost is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ghost looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Hifives Ghost.
I think Ghost has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
