Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royal Vasquez (ranked 25229 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Barrett (ranked 5171 p4p, 501 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Royal Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William Barrett!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasquez rushes Barrett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barrett dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Barrett pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Barrett closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vasquez did well to prevent Barrett getting side control.
Barrett stalling.

Barrett stands up and beckons Vasquez to join him on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barrett gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Vasquez's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Barrett prevents Vasquez from breaking the clinch.

Barrett wants the takedown. Vasquez is fighting it off but Barrett persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vasquez's guard against the cage.
Vasquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vasquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Barrett controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vasquez wants to hit a switch here but Barrett passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Vasquez there!
Vasquez has given up his back here.
Vasquez trying to control the position but Barrett manages to sink in the hooks.
Barrett punches the canvas rather than the man.

Barrett is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Vasquez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Vasquez is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Vasquez can't escape the position.
Barrett is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Barrett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Barrett dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Barrett lands with a thumping leg kick.

Barrett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vasquez's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasquez throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Vasquez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Barrett drops back looking for a leg! Vasquez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vasquez manages to kick Barrett off! Barrett jumps back into Vasquez's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vasquez controls Barrett momentarily but Barrett frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barrett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vasquez enables Barrett to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vasquez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Barrett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Vasquez trying to keep a closed guard but Barrett is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barrett tries to free his leg and advance position but Vasquez is retaining full guard.

Vasquez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Barrett has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barrett slips nicely into half guard.
Vasquez trying to hold on to Barrett's head to control him but Barrett postures up.

Barrett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Barrett wants to pass to mount but Vasquez is defending the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barrett is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Barrett has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Barrett wants to pass the guard but Vasquez is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Vasquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barrett tries to avoid it but Vasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barrett to the ground. Barrett escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Barrett, as that shot connected.


It looks like Royal Vasquez has been cut.

Barrett closes the distance and clinches.
Barrett is leaning against Vasquez and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Barrett jumps guard.

Barrett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vasquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Barrett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Royal Vasquez's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Barrett shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barrett showed some decent athleticism there.

Vasquez has one foot on Barrett's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Vasquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Barrett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vasquez quickly recovers to half guard.

Barrett is trying to work for a kimura but Vasquez is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barrett not doing much here.

Barrett decides to stand and escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Barrett shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Barrett was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Vasquez regains half guard.

Barrett postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vasquez to stand up.
Barrett lands a head kick!


Vasquez is rocked!

Barrett closes the distance looking for a takedown. Vasquez stuffs it but Barrett still has hold of him. Barrett picks Vasquez up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Barrett slams Vasquez to the floor and that's really hurt Vasquez - he doesn't know where he is! Barrett throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Barrett!
As William Barrett got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Oh yes bitches. I beat your dick and ass. I am gonna celebrate with pornhub.'.
