Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Burgess (ranked 25754 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Stroev (ranked 6331 p4p, 0 weight class). Victor Stroev has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alejandro Burgess's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alejandro Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Stroev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stroev closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Burgess's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burgess looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stroev passes into half guard.
Stroev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that Stroev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Burgess manages to get to full guard.
Stroev preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stroev is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Burgess wants to get back to his feet but Stroev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burgess striking off his back but it's not causing Stroev any problems.
Stroev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Burgess manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stroev manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stroev lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stroev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burgess swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Burgess looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stroev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Burgess manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Burgess is trying to maintain a safe position but Stroev gets an underhook and turns Burgess into the cage.
Burgess misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Burgess tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Burgess wants to stall.

Stroev stalling against the cage.
Burgess is trying to push Stroev away but Stroev has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Burgess is trying to maintain a safe position but Stroev gets an underhook and turns Burgess into the cage.
Burgess tries to break the clinch but Stroev is controlling the position.
Burgess managing to block the knees to the body from Stroev.
Burgess really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Burgess fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Stroev's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Burgess connects with a knee to the head.
Burgess is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Stroev dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burgess wants to stall.

Stroev decides to pull guard.
Burgess is fighting to break Stroev's control of his arms but Stroev is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Burgess wants to stand and escape but instead Stroev has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Stroev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Burgess trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Stroev sitting in guard here, content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Victor Stroev dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stroev tries to land a body kick
and Burgess counters with a left to the body.
A big left from Stroev misses.
Burgess tries to counter by clinching up but Stroev breaks away and moves out of range.
Burgess swats away the attempt to clinch by Stroev.

Stroev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Burgess kicks off Stroev and gets to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burgess shoots in but Stroev avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stroev closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Burgess did well to prevent Stroev getting side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stroev with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Stroev is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burgess misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Burgess is defending against the submission attempts here by Stroev.
Burgess gets back to full guard.
Stroev lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stroev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stroev wanted to stand there but Burgess had control of the position.
Burgess throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Stroev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Burgess's head.


Burgess is rocked!
Stroev chips away with some ground and pound.
Oh Burgess is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stroev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Stroev gets to his feet and stands over Burgess, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Burgess felt that one! Stroev unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Burgess from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Victor Stroev!
