The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lewin looking to sit in guard and control but Joyner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Joyner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Joyner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lewin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Joyner stands up over Lewin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Joyner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Lewin is looking for a triangle but Joyner pushes his legs off easily.
Joyner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lewin will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Joyner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lewin can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joyner drops back looking for a leg! Lewin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lewin manages to kick Joyner off! Joyner jumps back into Lewin's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joyner slows the pace down in half guard.
Joyner drops an elbow to the side of Lewin's head.
Joyner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lewin wants to control but Joyner is keeping busy.
Joyner slips a nice elbow through Lewin's hands, connecting with Lewin's forehead.
