PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ed Bing (ranked 3855 p4p, 427 weight class) and Timmy Thompson (ranked 4431 p4p, 481 weight class). Timmy Thompson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bing gets a double leg takedown into Thompson's guard.

Bing drops back looking for a leg! Thompson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thompson manages to kick Bing off! Bing jumps back into Thompson's guard.
Bing stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thompson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thompson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bing has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bing has control of Thompson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thompson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Thompson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Thompson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ed Bing overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bing changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thompson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Thompson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
