EMP 8 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Jandre Vorster (ranked 4348 p4p, 443 weight class) and Troy Hattori (ranked 21855 p4p, 665 weight class). Vorster's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Behemoth. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Jandre Vorster! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 5 losses; Troy Hattori!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Vorster rushes Hattori and presses him up against the cage.
Hattori jumps guard but Vorster stands there with Hattori around his waist. Hattori gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hattori has Vorster pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vorster manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Vorster turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vorster manages to end up in side control.

The referee asks Vorster politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vorster prefers to stall for the moment though.

Vorster might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hattori is keen to just control but Vorster is a slippery customer.

Hattori seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vorster does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like Hattori might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hattori is looking for a kimura but Vorster is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hattori to get the leverage.

Hattori is working for an americana but Vorster has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Hattori was thinking about the submission.

Hattori drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vorster manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hattori has Vorster in his guard.

Vorster got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hattori has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vorster has managed to get both his arms back between Hattori's legs - danger averted.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hattori throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Vorster escapes and throws Hattori's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Vorster takes the fight on points by 15 to 2.
