Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abdul Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Crock Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lee!


Lee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnson has escaped the position, nice work there.

I wouldn't like to be where Johnson is right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Lee against the cage.

Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lee could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Johnson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Lee wants to sweep but no luck.
Johnson is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Johnson is looking to pass into half guard but Lee pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lee is in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lee decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Lee gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Lee manages to retain guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lee manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has Lee in his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Crock Johnson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Lee counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lee has him pressed against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lee takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johnson walks away with a smile on his face. Lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lee is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Johnson.


It looks like Abdul Lee has been cut.

Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.

Lee scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Johnson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lee is trying to defend but Johnson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Johnson wants to stand up but Lee has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Lee moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Johnson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Johnson stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.

Crock Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.

Crock Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Johnson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Johnson.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
