PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Jacobs (ranked 3546 p4p, 357 weight class) and Keyshawn Davis (ranked 3915 p4p, 390 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Keyshawn Davis !
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobs feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Jacobs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Davis kicks Jacobs off and gets to his feet.
Jacobs takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Jacobs shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davis 's guard.

Davis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jacobs fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jacobs jumps guard but Davis stands there with Jacobs around his waist. Jacobs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Davis decides to pull guard.
Jacobs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jacobs wants to pass the guard but Davis is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jacobs takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Davis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jacobs counters by moving into the clinch.

Randy Jacobs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Davis is fighting to break Jacobs's control of his arms but Jacobs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Davis shoots in and drives through. Jacobs sprawls well.

Jacobs throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davis was covering up waiting for the punch and Jacobs finishes the takedown easily into guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jacobs holds on and takes a little breather.

Jacobs shoots in and bounces Davis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Davis manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Davis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jacobs uses from the top position.

Jacobs is looking for the choke from the back position but Davis is controlling his hands well.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Jacobs's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jacobs seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Davis for as long as he can get away with.

Jacobs is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Davis defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jacobs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
