Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshall Artz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vatli Drago!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Drago scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Drago working the ground and pound.


It looks like Marshall Artz has been cut.
Drago working away.
Artz has one of Drago's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Drago is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Artz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Drago looking to control but instead Artz has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Artz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Drago seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Artz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Drago is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Artz sees it coming and defends easily.

Drago is looking for a kimura here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Artz tries to get to full guard but Drago has control of the leg.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drago displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Artz throws out the jab.
Vatli Drago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Drago drives through with a takedown into guard.

Artz is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Drago presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Artz misses with a knee strike.
Artz is trying to push Drago away but Drago has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Drago has hold of one of Artz's legs. Artz is fighting the takedown attempt but Drago gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Artz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Drago trying to control the position from guard on top but Artz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Artz keeping full guard, as Drago tries to pass.
Artz has Drago pulled in close to control his posture.
Artz wants to hit a switch here but Drago passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Artz there!
Drago trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Drago is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Artz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drago throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Drago is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Artz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Artz!
Artz is looking to advance position but Drago has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Drago has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Artz's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vatli Drago dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marshall Artz's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Artz cracks Drago with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Drago gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Drago breaks the clinch.
Drago shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Artz counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Artz throws a head kick that misses

and Drago counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Drago stands up from Artz's guard - Drago perhaps looking for a knockout.
Good leg kick by Artz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Artz throws a nice head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Drago closes the distance but Artz moves to the side
and Artz counters with a nice body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drago fails with a takedown attempt.
Drago is breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Artz.
No luck for Drago with that takedown attempt.
Marshall Artz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vatli Drago.
Artz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Artz throws a head kick that Drago semi-blocks.
No joy there for Artz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drago has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Artz.
Artz lands a head kick. Drago smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Artz lands with a nice combination. Drago backs away looking to recover.


Drago is rocked!
Marshall Artz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Artz circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Drago to the canvas! Drago doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Artz keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marshall Artz!
