PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane MacGowan (ranked 839 p4p, 114 weight class) and Tyreke Mechanic (ranked 1020 p4p, 141 weight class). MacGowan comes to the cage accompanied by The Pogues - Streams of Whiskey. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane MacGowan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyreke Mechanic!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

MacGowan is looking for a kimura but Mechanic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for MacGowan to get the leverage.

MacGowan wants to work for an arm triangle but Mechanic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

MacGowan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mechanic's guard.

Shane MacGowan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

MacGowan continues to stall.
Mechanic must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Tyreke Mechanic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

MacGowan is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
MacGowan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mechanic.
MacGowan darts in looking for a takedown but Mechanic gets double underhooks and turns MacGowan into the cage.

MacGowan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

MacGowan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mechanic is just riding it out for now. MacGowan eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacGowan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mechanic for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mechanic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mechanic is fighting to break MacGowan's control of his arms but MacGowan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Mechanic not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
