Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Miller!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Miller closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Miller.
Miller misses with some punches.

Patton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Miller walks away with a smile on his face. Patton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Miller closes the distance and clinches.
Miller has a couple of punches blocked by Patton.
Miller tries to work over Patton's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller misses with a hook from the clinch.
Patton is trying to pull guard but Miller has him pressed against the cage.
Patton really is a fat lump.

Miller lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Patton backwards.

Patton is trying to pull guard but Miller turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miller misses with a hook to the ribs.
Patton fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Patton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Miller uses from the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Miller tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Miller tries to throw a body punch but Patton avoids it by throwing Miller back against the cage.
Patton wants to stall.
Miller tries to work over Patton's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Miller throws a big right hand that misses.

Let's hope that Miller has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Patton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Miller just stands there and leans against the cage.
Miller lands on the inside with an uppercut.


It looks like Alan Patton has been cut.
Patton jumps guard but Miller turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Miller misses with a hook from the clinch.
James Miller seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Patton blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A head punch on the inside from Miller fails to land.
Miller goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller misses with the head strike.

Patton decides to pull guard.
Miller is stalling in the full guard.

Miller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Patton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Patton throws a strike but Miller rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Miller engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Miller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Patton working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Miller.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Patton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Patton.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Miller drops Patton with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Patton looks back up at him and smiles so Miller waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Patton is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Miller lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Patton head around and knocks him out cold! Miller hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
