The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Amirov sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Amirov sprawls well. Amirov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.

Amirov closes the distance and clinches.
Smith's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Amirov drags the fight down to the ground.
Smith advances to half guard.
Amirov is trying to get back to full guard.
Amirov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
