PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Magnum (ranked 4621 p4p, 550 weight class) and Harsh Jak (ranked 23032 p4p, 811 weight class). Magnum kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I am Stronger. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Harsh Jak was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jackson Magnum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harsh Jak!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jak looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Magnum throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jak throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Magnum seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Magnum closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jak to the mat! Jak manages to get full guard.
Magnum wants to get up but he can't break Jak's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Magnum prevents Jak from getting back to his feet.
Jak utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jak is looking to stand up but Magnum isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Magnum looking to sit in guard and control but Jak gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Magnum looking for a sweep. Not yet Magnum, not yet.
Magnum has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Magnum wants to get back to his feet but Jak is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jak won't allow Magnum to sweep him here.
Jak wants to stand but Magnum is controlling his posture from full guard.

Jak decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jak tries to keep at a distance but Magnum has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jak tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Come on Magnum - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Magnum lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

It looks like Harsh Jak has been cut.
Jak tries to pull guard but Magnum won't allow it.

Jak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Magnum clinches up with Jak and pushes him back against the cage.
Jak is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jak tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Magnum just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jackson Magnum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harsh Jak.
Magnum just leaning against Jak, taking a breather.
A frustrated look appears on Jak's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Magnum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jak throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Magnum counters with a left and a right that stings Jak.
Magnum avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Magnum shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jak looks winded!
Magnum perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jak on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Magnum throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jak to regain full guard.
Magnum controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Magnum trying to control the position from guard on top but Jak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Magnum postures up in Jak's guard and throws a big left but Jak blocks it.
Magnum is stalling in the full guard.
Magnum tries to free his leg and advance position but Jak is retaining full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Magnum stays in close to Jak's body and controls the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Magnum scoring with punches to the head and body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson Magnum dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Harsh Jak's cut.
That's time! Magnum's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A shot to the liver by Magnum. Beautiful body shot.
Jak misses with a few strikes there.
Magnum connects with a nice cross there... Jak is looking wobbly and Magnum recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Jak to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Magnum jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
