Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Laranja (ranked 2025 p4p, 270 weight class) and Edgar Boon (ranked 2639 p4p, 342 weight class). Laranja comes into the arena with Jimmy Cliff - Samba Reggae blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laranja tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boon misses with a lunging right hand
and Laranja holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Laranja tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boon just stands there and leans against the cage.
Laranja tries to pull guard but Boon forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Laranja has been working on his balance at Island Safe Space, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Boon.
Boon throws a punch but it's blocked by Laranja.
Boon fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A short uppercut from Boon.
It looks like Rodrigo Laranja has been cut.
Laranja jumps guard but Boon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boon lands a left hand.
A right hand to the body from Boon.
Boon stalls.
Laranja fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Laranja pulls guard effortlessly.
Boon stands up from Laranja's guard - Boon perhaps looking for a knockout.
Boon throws a pinpoint strike between Laranja's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Laranja crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Boon scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edgar Boon!
In his post fight interview, Edgar Boon started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
