PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Villa (ranked 3812 p4p, 417 weight class) and Pyrrhus Nikos (ranked 4262 p4p, 445 weight class). Villa comes to the cage accompanied by Jimmy Eat World - The Middle. Nikos has chosen Holding Out For a Hero as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villa ducks under a wild hook from Nikos.
Villa slips under a jab from Nikos.
Nikos misses with a kick to the body

and Villa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Nikos actively working from the bottom here.
Villa is trying to control the action in half guard but Nikos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Villa is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Nikos still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Nikos has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Villa can't do much from the bottom here.

Nikos is working to tighten his grip on Villa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Villa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Nikos is really squeezing tight and eventually Villa passes out! Nikos breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Jackson Villa was interviewed post fight and said 'My opponent was the better fighter, I have nothing but respect. He showed me I got holes in my game. I'll be back.'.
