The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A nice combination there by Jackson.
Cruz with a poor takedown
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Dashaun Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz dives in for a single leg takedown but Jackson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dashaun Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Cruz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cruz is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Cruz circles away and we're back to standing.

Cruz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Cruz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cruz is trying to control. Jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cruz lands a nice short elbow.
Cruz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Cruz sits in half guard.
Cruz prevents Jackson from improving his position.
Cruz wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Nice strikes from Cruz there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jackson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cruz connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.

Cruz is working for a kimura but Jackson is defending it quite comfortably.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cruz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jackson!

Cruz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.
Jackson is bucking up trying to escape but Cruz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cruz landing punches.
Cruz lands a couple of good shots and Jackson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Jackson is in bad spot here.
Cruz lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The referee is taking a good look at Jackson as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Cruz!


Jackson is rocked!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Cruz. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Cruz connects with a big shot to the side of Jackson's head.
Cruz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cruz has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Jackson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Cruz gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
