The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Davies misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Davies looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

McArthur gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

McArthur pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davies shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McArthur as he avoids it easily.

McArthur shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Davies is trying to defend but McArthur finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

McArthur is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Davies has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Davies tries to control McArthur's body but McArthur pushes him off. Davies squirms to his side and now McArthur has his back!

Davies is trying to get back to his feet but McArthur has full control of the position and if anything, Davies has just worked his way into a worse spot.
McArthur is hanging on to Davies's back as he tries to escape.
McArthur is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. McArthur gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. McArthur gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. McArthur apologises and we restart here on the feet.

McArthur thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McArthur stands up over Davies, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McArthur has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davies is proving hard to escape from.

McArthur is fighting to break Davies's control of his arms but Davies is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
McArthur connects with a couple of short punches.
McArthur wants to stand but Davies is controlling his posture from full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Davies can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McArthur controls the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Davies tries to reverse the position but McArthur maintains control.
Davies swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
McArthur lands a big shot there that rocks Davies but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
McArthur lands a heavy elbow.

McArthur wants to finish this one by submission but Davies is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McArthur.

McArthur cracks Davies with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
