Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Honda (ranked 1914 p4p, 74 weight class) and Paul McDonald (ranked 1829 p4p, 69 weight class). Honda comes to the cage accompanied by E. Honda Stage Theme Extended. McDonald has chosen Set it Off as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edmond Honda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Honda looking to score a takedown here. McDonald is defending well but Honda drives through and ends up in McDonald's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Honda had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McDonald defends it easily.

McDonald sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Honda's guard.

Honda looking for a sweep. Not yet Honda, not yet.
McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Honda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McDonald trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Honda has his foot on McDonald's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McDonald works his way back into a safe position though.

McDonald trying to control but Honda is working from the bottom.

McDonald pushes down on Honda's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Honda knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDonald on the ground.

McDonald is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Honda is just riding it out for now. McDonald eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Honda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McDonald can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Honda seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McDonald stands up over Honda, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Honda is looking to cinch up a triangle. McDonald throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Honda's body to avoid the submission. Honda has instead reached around McDonald's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Honda arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Edmond Honda!
Edmond Honda decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
