PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Big Asznee (ranked 1422 p4p, 195 weight class) and Sergei Bumanov (ranked 2690 p4p, 324 weight class). Asznee comes into the arena with The Game blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Bumanov!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Hugh Johnson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Bumanov finds it's target.
Asznee has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Bumanov has managed to clinch.
Bumanov working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Bumanov is fighting off a takedown attempt but Asznee is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bumanov to the mat. Bumanov regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Asznee tries to free his leg and advance position but Bumanov is retaining full guard.
Asznee stands and throws Bumanov's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bumanov is looking to reverse the position.
Bumanov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Asznee connects with a decent elbow.

Asznee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bumanov has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bumanov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Asznee off and has taken his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bumanov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Asznee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bumanov lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Bumanov.
Can Asznee hold on?! Bumanov is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Bumanov is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bumanov gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bumanov gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bumanov apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Asznee has gone for a leg lock! Bumanov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Asznee's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Asznee controls Bumanov momentarily but Bumanov frees himself.

Asznee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bumanov defends it easily.
Asznee wants to sweep but no luck.
Bumanov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bumanov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Asznee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bumanov has managed to get both his arms back between Asznee's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bumanov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bumanov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Asznee's head.
Asznee wants to sweep here but Bumanov controlling him for the moment.
Bumanov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Asznee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bumanov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bumanov digs a good body shot into Asznee's ribs.

Asznee shoots in for a double leg but Bumanov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bumanov leaves Asznee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bumanov tries to counter with a clinch but Asznee shakes him off and moves away.
Asznee walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Big Asznee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bumanov has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Asznee is trying to keep an underhook but Bumanov manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Asznee is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bumanov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bumanov's back!

Asznee is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bumanov defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bumanov is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Asznee gets his way!

Asznee is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Bumanov has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Asznee is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bumanov knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bumanov for a finish.

Asznee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bumanov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Asznee has Bumanov in his guard.

Asznee is looking to cinch up a triangle. Bumanov throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Asznee's body to avoid the submission. Asznee has instead reached around Bumanov's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Asznee arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Big Asznee!
