Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Warren Franco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Beast!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franco fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Beast sprawls well initially but Franco persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Beast kicks Franco off and gets back to his feet.
Beast misses with a low kick.
Franco avoids the head kick by Beast.
Beast fails with an attempt to clinch.

Beast looking to score a takedown here. Franco is defending well but Beast drives through and ends up in Franco's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beast works over Franco with some ground and pound from guard.
Franco is looking to stand up but Beast isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beast scoring with some ground and pound.
Franco wants to stand up but Beast is controlling him.
Beast seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Beast passes Franco's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beast wants to pass to mount but Franco is defending the position.
Franco wants to get back to his feet.
Beast working the head and body with strikes.
Beast is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Franco makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Franco.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Beast showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Beast prevents Franco from getting back to his feet.
Beast makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Beast sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Let's hope that Beast has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beast looking to pass the guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Franco is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beast is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Beast throws a nice looking combination but Franco bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Beast lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Franco circles away quickly and effectively.

Beast is thwarting Franco's attempts to control the position.
Beast content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
It looks like Beast might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Beast decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Franco moves in looking to clinch but Beast pushes him off.

Beast scores with a takedown into Franco's guard.

Franco has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Beast off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Beast decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beast in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Beast dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Beast clinches up with Franco and pushes him back against the cage.
Beast stalling in the clinch but Franco improves position.

Beast escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Beast fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Franco to the ground. Beast is now in Franco's guard.
Beast stays in close to Franco's body and controls the position.
Franco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beast gets to his feet - Franco follows without any prompting.
Beast misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Beast.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Franco tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beast wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Franco is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Beast has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beast passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Franco!
Beast sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Franco is looking to improve his position but Beast isn't that keen on the idea.

Franco keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beast pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Beast takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Beast looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


Franco is rocked!


It looks like Warren Franco has been cut.
Oooh a big shot lands for Beast! Franco is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Junior Beast!
