And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simon Dietrich!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Malone successfully pulls guard.
Dietrich trying to control the position from guard on top but Malone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Malone might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Malone looking for a sweep. Not yet Malone, not yet.
Malone keeping full guard, as Dietrich tries to pass.
Dietrich wants to control from the top but Malone keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malone looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dietrich is one step ahead there.

Malone throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Dietrich trying to control but Malone is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Dietrich fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Malone sprawls well initially but Dietrich persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dietrich is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Malone is looking to improve his position.

Malone has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dietrich is on him like a limpet, forcing Malone back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Malone tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Dietrich counters with a series of strikes. Malone will be more careful next time no doubt.

Malone is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dietrich is just riding it out for now. Malone eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dietrich has hold of Malone's hands but Malone slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Dietrich wants to get back to his feet.

Malone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Dietrich is trying to maintain the position but Malone is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dietrich will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Malone takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Dietrich looks to land a combination. Malone sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Jackson Malone has been cut.

Dietrich dives in and scores a takedown into Malone's guard.

Malone escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dietrich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dietrich slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Dietrich is looking to take a break and control but Malone is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dietrich gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dietrich stops Malone from standing up.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Malone manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Dietrich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Malone keeps working.

Dietrich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dietrich would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dietrich postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dietrich throws a big elbow that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dietrich is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Dietrich wants to get back to his feet but Malone is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Simon Dietrich is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dietrich wants to hit a switch here but Malone passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dietrich there!

I would just about give that final round to Simon Dietrich.
