Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Kemper (ranked 5989 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isa Musaev (ranked 5567 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eddie Kemper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Isa Musaev!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Musaev forces Kemper back against the cage and clinches.

Musaev is trying to trip Kemper. He has hold of a leg but Kemper is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Musaev persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kemper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Musaev manages to get himself to full guard.


Kemper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kemper wants to pass the guard but Musaev is keeping the position.
Kemper trying to control but Musaev is working from the bottom.
Kemper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Musaev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kemper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kemper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kemper stays in close to Musaev's body and controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Musaev wants to sweep but no luck.
Kemper works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Musaev keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Musaev tries to get to full guard but Kemper has control of the leg.

Kemper is working for a kimura but Musaev is defending it quite comfortably.
Musaev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kemper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kemper is trying to control the action in half guard but Musaev is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Musaev throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Musaev can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kemper wants to work for an arm triangle but Musaev is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kemper tries to pass the half guard into mount. Musaev knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kemper in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Musaev tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kemper!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Eddie Kemper!
