PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Coyote Starrk (ranked 1456 p4p, 188 weight class) and Roderick Solo (ranked 2212 p4p, 261 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Roderick Solo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Coyote Starrk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Solo!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Starrk scores with a jab to the body.
Solo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Starrk lands a body shot.
Solo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Starrk throws a lazy head kick
and Solo counters with a nice uppercut.
Solo swings and misses with a shot to the body
enabling Starrk to counter with a crisp jab.
Solo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Starrk.
A good leg kick by Starrk.
Good leg kick by Solo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Starrk tests Solo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Starrk works over Solo's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Solo throws a half hearted mid kick.
Starrk throws an off balance right hand
and Solo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Solo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Solo lunges at Starrk with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Starrk's hand.
Starrk throws a combination that misses
and Solo counters with a straight right hand.
Coyote Starrk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A low kick from Solo is predictable there
and Starrk counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Starrk throws a series of punches but Solo avoids them all with ease.
Starrk blocks the body kick.
Solo misses with a body kick.
Starrk lands with a nice body punch.
Starrk throws a right and a left that Solo avoids nicely.
Starrk throws a low kick but it's checked well by Solo.
Solo now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Starrk throws a combination that misses
and Solo counters with a thumping low kick.
A head kick by Starrk misses
and Solo counters with a thumping low kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Starrk slips under a jab.
Starrk went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Starrk scores with the left hand. Solo knows he should have avoided that one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Starrk is looking to chop away at Solo's legs.
Starrk takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Starrk throws a right and a left that both miss.
Starrk misses with an uppercut.
Starrk uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Solo.
Solo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Starrk to score with a decent uppercut.
Starrk scores with a three punch combo!
Solo tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Solo is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Solo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Solo checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Starrk pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Solo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Starrk.
Starrk takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A head kick by Starrk misses
and Solo counters with a nice body shot.
Starrk swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Solo counters with a low kick, right behind Starrk 's knee.
Solo checks the leg kick.
Starrk misses with a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Solo! But no joy.
A head kick misses from Starrk.
Solo throws out a counter right but Starrk avoids it with no problem.
Solo connects with an inside leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Solo with a hook.
Starrk walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Solo swings for the body but Starrk moves out of range.
Starrk was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Solo misses with a hook. Starrk ducked under it nicely.
Starrk lands a nice hook to Solo's body. Solo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Starrk closes the distance and clinches.
Starrk digs a right hand into Solo's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Solo's gas tank.
Starrk tries a body shot but Solo blocks it.
Starrk misses with a hook to the ribs.
Solo looking to slow down the pace here.
Starrk misses with a body punch.
Solo lands a body shot.
Solo misses with a hook to the ribs.

Solo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Coyote Starrk will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Starrk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Starrk ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Solo moves away.
Solo is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Starrk with a body shot.
Coyote Starrk is winning the standup battle so far.
Solo throws a hook but Starrk blocks it.
Starrk scores with a body shot.
Starrk tries to land a body kick
and Solo counters with a straight right hand.
Nice uppercut there from Solo.
Solo avoids the body shot from Starrk.
Nice straight punches there by Solo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Solo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Starrk throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A looping hook to the body misses from Solo. Starrk does a little dance to reset his feet.
Starrk throws a quick counter head kick but Solo was just out of range.
Starrk scores with a sloppy right hand. Solo should have avoided that one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
As Solo tries to get set, Starrk tries to push him back and clinch up but Solo manages to avoid the attempt.
Starrk scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Starrk falls off balance throwing a combination
and Solo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Starrk takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Solo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Starrk sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Starrk seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Solo slips under a jab.
Solo appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Starrk connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Solo momentarily.
Starrk misses with a head kick.
Starrk scores with a head kick. Solo tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Starrk takes a swing at Solo's ribcage but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Solo misses with a wild body shot.
Starrk throws a nice inside leg kick.
It looks like Starrk has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Solo throws a leg kick but Starrk checks it.
Solo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Starrk has time to react.
Starrk chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Solo can pounce on him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Starrk throws a sloppy body shot
and Solo counters with a nice uppercut.
Starrk darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Starrk throws the left hand but Solo avoids the punch easily.
Solo blocks a low kick nicely.
Starrk defending well as Solo loads up on a big left hand.
Starrk tries to counter by clinching up but Solo breaks away and moves out of range.
Starrk fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Solo is out of range.
Solo let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Solo blocks a leg kick.
Solo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Solo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Starrk listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Solo lands a big head kick that sends Starrk tumbling to the mat! Solo takes a step backwards and waves Starrk back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Starrk is rocked!


It looks like Coyote Starrk has been cut.
Starrk slips under a jab from Solo.
Oh Starrk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Solo throws a head kick that misses.
Solo throws an overhand right that has Starrk reeling! Solo follows up with more punches and Starrk is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Roderick Solo!
